Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN)

Course Content
Course Duration: 3 Years
Entry requirements

This programme is designed to equip learners with the right competence in knowledge, skills and attitude in becoming an all-round and competent nurse who is able to deliver quality and safe nursing interventions. The course is a combination of three major areas of nurse training, namely; General Nursing, Community Health nursing and Midwifery.

The content covered in the programme addresses the critical thematic areas of the profession which includes:

  1. Medical Surgical Nursing
  2. Community Health nursing
  3. Midwifery
  4. Pediatrics
  5. Psychiatry
  6. Casualty Emergency
  7. Theatre Nursing

This course takes 3 Years. 

Intake: March & September

  1. Minimum entry age – 17 years
  2. Aggregate KCSE (mean grade) C plain or KCE division II
  3. The mandatory subjects should include a minimum of:
    1. C plain English or Kiswahili
    2. C plain in Biology or Biological sciences
    3. C-(minus) in Mathematics or physics/chemistry/physical sciences
